This wasn’t just some new footage for The Darkness II; these guys throw arcade machines, a Milk bar, a DJ, heaps of booze and live art into the mix. The result? Utter chaos. Within 15 minutes you could barely move. After a few hours there wasn’t a spare spot to stand. rawDLC fought through the crowd to get a closer look. Read the rest of this entry →

Show: DLC-Live Episode 58 – Story is futile

September 29, 2011 in Featured, Live Show

This week on DLC-Live, Josh, Dave and Nachos spill the beans on some of the cool events they have been to over the last few weeks. The troupe talk about their evening with Tim Willits of id Software, where he talked candidly about his career in the industry, and the guys broke down their hands-on time with Battlefield 3 single-player and co-op. After that, the boys continue to cover the madness that is the end-of-year games launches as they review Resistance 3. DLC takes a look at the game as well its place among this year’s heavy hitters. Show: DLC goes out live on Wednesday NOT Tuesday this week

May 1, 2011 in Featured, Live Show

You’d be hard strapped to ever call us out on a time when there was even the slightest shred of unprofessionalism on our part. We say no to overseas trips to make sure that the three of us are always going out live, we never have weeks off and we certainly don’t let some stupid awesome event that takes place on a Tuesday stop us from giving you your regular weekly gaming goodness. Due to an unavoidable life event that may or may not be an awesome actual gaming event that we don’t want to avoid, the show will not be going out live on Tuesday night. Launch: DLC-Live resists the KPA at Sydney’s Homefront event

March 17, 2011 in Events, Featured, Launches

Just before this week’s podcast, the crew here at DLC-Live managed to infiltrate the Koren propaganda headquarters of the KPA in downtown Sydney. Stealthily passing two MPs, we dodged some cammo netting, made it past the buckets of beers and entered their base of operations. Uploading to the local server, we started to operate a resistance movement within the belly of the beast, all in the name of Homefront. After the usual meet and greet, we got down and dirty against other gaming brethren to have another taste of Homefront’s unique slant on multiplayer. Read the rest of this entry →

Event Video: DLC Hardens Up with Lt Col Hank Keirsey

December 2, 2010 in Events, Featured, Launches, Video

Let it never be said that we don’t go the extra mile for you guys… well, let it never be said that Josh and Nachos don’t, to be more precise. A few weeks ago Nachos reported on the awesome “Harden Up” event (click here) we all attended for the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops. We were lucky enough to get a taste of Boot Camp, lead by the enigmatic and deceptively fit military adviser for the game, retired Lt Col Hank Keirsey. After meeting us all at Bondi Beach, the Lt Col took the boys through their paces (I bowed out with the heavy burden of filming their efforts, yep, I’ll throw myself on the hand grenade for the team). Behind The Scenes: Kinect

November 7, 2010 in Behind The Scenes, Featured

It won’t be long before Xbox 360 owners around the globe will be having to answer a very simple question: is Kinect for me or best left to those not-so-affectionately referred to as ‘waggle wankers’? This particular topic of conversation may enter the ranks of those deemed inappropriate for dinner banter. Regardless of where you fall on the Kinect spectrum, I had the pleasure of attending a Kinect event not so long ago that was rather… interesting. Despite the fact that I was, at the time, a one-armed bandito, I still managed to capture some interesting shots of the swanky venue and a bit of video footage. Read the rest of this entry →

Event: Microsoft Open House – Part 1

September 3, 2010 in Events, Featured

Mornings are never a gamers friend, and when it comes to those in the games industry, night is the best time to collect us all together for a little show and tell. When I noticed the open house presentation was during the daylight, I’ll admit, I was a little twitchy. However, the event would give me some solid hands-on time with Microsoft’s newest toy Kinect, plus a chance to laugh at other games journalists as they feebly attempted to bust moves with Dance Central. Armed with three coffees worth of caffeine and several hours sleep I headed out to Sydney’s Luna Park to rep DLC, try out Kinect and see what all the fuss was about. Read the rest of this entry →

Just a quick reminder that the show has been moved this week due to One 2 Another running an event the same time we record (no manners at all). Needless to say, in the name of gaming (and beer) we’re moving the Live show to Thursday the 29th at the usual time of 8pm (AEST).

Launch: Super Mario Galaxy 2

June 7, 2010 in Featured, Games, Launches

Nintendo rolled into town last week… or should I say, sailed, bringing with them much mirth, booze, D-list celebrities, hot PR girls and, oh yeah, perhaps a Super Mario Galaxy 2 launch. Aboard party boat ‘Starship Sydney’, Josh, myself and the irrepressible Nachos Justice took to the high seas bringing chaos, mayhem, douche looks and we even managed to stay coherent enough to rub shoulders with some industry peers…
