Review: Shank 2

February 22, 2012 in Featured, Games, PC/Mac, PS3, Review, Xbox 360

Being a massive fan of the original arcade title, I was a tad excited about the sequel’s release. In many aspects Shank 2 exceeds its predecessor but it may be more of a case of two steps forward, one step back. Coming in at about 3 hours to knock out the single-player may seem light but the new inclusion of the devastatingly addictive survival mode almost makes up for it. Almost. Fat2Phat: Move – Day 1

February 20, 2012 in Events, Fat2Phat, Featured

Can motion-controlled fitness games help a gamer lose weight? That’s the question at the core of the all-new Fat2Phat series. While Nachos may have succumbed to ‘gamer body’, mine is a tribute to older age, a slower metabolism and over indulgence. As mid-life crisis threatens to hit later this year, I couldn’t think of a better way to lose weight and incorporate some gaming into the mix. Read the rest of this entry →

Video: Max Payne 3 – Max’s Brazilian vacation

February 17, 2012 in Featured, Games, PS3, Video, Xbox 360

I usually don’t ride the Rockstar hype train. I prefer to sit back and wait for its titles to come out before passing judgement, but Max Payne 3 is an exception. Every trailer, hands-off session I see or preview I read has me salivating like the dog I am waiting for the next juicy tidbit. This latest trailer takes a closer look at the most important element for Max fans (and Nachos) – the story. Read the rest of this entry →

Event: Grand Slam Tennis 2

February 17, 2012 in Events, Featured, Launches

Ah, tennis. It is the noble sport of kings; or, at least that’s the way some people look at it. Here at rawDLC we usually deplore physical activity. But in the interests of public health, we have made it our goal to get more physical this year (well, Nachos has got the ball rolling). So an afternoon of tennis and booze seems to give us the best of both worlds. As usual, chaos ensues. Read the rest of this entry →

Review: UFC Undisputed 3

February 15, 2012 in Featured, Games, PS3, Review, Xbox 360

There’s something strangely compelling about Mixed Martial Arts. Maybe it’s the gladiatorial feel bringing up latent manly impulses as two skilled warriors beat the crap out of each other. Perhaps its those bone-snapping Frank Mir submissions that make you wince and howl with delight. It could just be a desire to ogle them sexy ring girls shaking their booty as they parade around the ring. Read the rest of this entry →

Event: Capcom Showcase

February 14, 2012 in Events, Featured

Oxford Art Factory was the perfect choice for this event. The painted walls and arcade machines created a nice atmosphere for what was to come. Capcom had their developers out in force, waiting at the booths like merchants ready to sell their stock. rawDLC showed up fashionably late, we signed in, had a a beer and were ready to get down to some gaming goodness.
