Interview: Seth Olshfski on The Darkness II

January 25, 2012 in Featured, Games, Interviews

The Darkness is one of my favourite comics of all time. Not for the story or the violence, but more the way it constantly evolves with new artists and writers. The games are evolving, too. At a recent Insert Coin(s) event (pics here) I had a chance to chat with The Darkness II’s producer, Seth Olshfski. We talked about the game, his career and pet hates. January 20, 2012 in Featured, Games, Interviews, Preview, Video

For those that may not listen to our podcast (shame on you), rawDLC is excited for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. It has been a long time since a game has left us yearning for more, and after a little hands-on time we were sold. Throwing caution to the wind, EA was nice enough to let us talk to the game’s lead designer, Ian Frazier. Check out what he had to say after the jump. Read the rest of this entry →

Raw Interview: Jason DeLong on The Run

October 16, 2011 in Featured, Games, Interviews

Need for Speed: The Run, the latest title in the long-racing series, is scheduled to hit Aussie shores on the 17th of November. I recently sat down with Jason DeLong, executive producer at EA Black Box, and picked his brain about all things Need for Speed. Instead of transcribing or cutting it, I’ve uploaded the full interview, from the moment I started recording until the end of the interview. Read the rest of this entry →

Interview: Paul Feig on Bridesmaids

June 17, 2011 in Entertainment, Featured, Film, Interviews

From the trailer, Bridesmaids did not jump out as a laugh-out-loud film. However, Rotten Tomatoes has it listed at an impressive 89%, which means the critics adore it, and everyone that has seen it is singing its praises. So I decided to check it out. The verdict is that the film is brilliant and deserves all the positive press it has been getting. So when CineFOOLS offered me a chance to sit down and pick the brain of the film’s director, Paul Feig (The Office, Freaks and Geeks), I pretty much  jumped at the opportunity. Show: Paul Wedgwood interview kicks off the new look DLC-Live

May 16, 2011 in Featured, Games, Interviews, Live Show, Video

For gamers who know their first-person shooters, there’s few titles that we’re as excited about as Brink. Forget the mixed reviews out there, Brink is a game changer. It changes the way you operate as an individual and forces you to work as a unit to succeed, and it’s not easy. Nothing worthwhile ever is now, is it? Late last year, the guys here at DLC-Live had the chance to bro-down with Paul via Skype and got a brilliant interview out of the quote machine also known as CEO of Splash Damage and game director of Brink, but we had an ulterior motive up our sleeve. You see, DLC-Live is changing and we wanted to generate some heat with a title to remember. Read the rest of this entry →

Video Interview: Randy Pitchford on Duke Nukem Forever

May 12, 2011 in Featured, Games, Interviews, Live Show, PC/Mac, PS3, Video, Xbox 360

As often delayed as it has been, Duke Nukem Forever is fast approaching and although it’s a weird feeling to finally say this out loud, this time it’s for real. The Duke is back and he’s bringing with him not only cigars and beer, but a whole lot of blood, girls and offensive content. The buzz is big. So big that even the casual gamer is raising an eyebrow on this one. Each reliving lost memories of pressing a button to see 2D boobies and tittering like school girls. Duke is to gamers what Elvis is to music lovers, an icon. So, with the launch almost upon us, 2K decided to host an event and they did it ‘Duke style’. Read the rest of this entry →

Interview: Nathan Davis on Dungeon Siege III

April 20, 2011 in Featured, Games, Interviews

Dungeon Siege III may not be high on your list of must buy games, but as far as hack-and-slashers go this may be it’s evolution into this next-gen world we live in. Even though this kind of game has been relegated to hand-held’s and downloadable sources, its appeal is still marketable and fans of games from Golden Axe to Diablo still wait and hope for someone to take this style and give it some 21st century loving. Well, Obsidian heard your cries and have taken popular franchise Dungeon Siege and rebooted into a seriously bad-ass slasher. We managed to wrangle some time from Obsidian and get some answers about their intriguing new project. Read the rest of this entry →

Interview: We get the lowdown on Brink with Richard Ham

March 10, 2011 in Featured, Games, Interviews

Keeping the run from my superb trip to LA going, here’s the awesome interview with Splash Damage’s creative director, the enigmatic Richard Ham. In this animated interview we got down to brass tacks on Brink’s storyline duality, with some interesting takes on mission structure. We discussed the uselessness of a sniper class and then he broke down in depth the overlooked specialist class, that of the Operative. With all manner of fantastic perks at is disposal, he is the infiltrator, the spy and prefers to go it alone, almost at odds with Brink’s core teamwork driven values. Read the rest of this entry →

Interview: Matt Webster breaks down NFS: Hot Pursuit

December 3, 2010 in Featured, Games, Interviews, Live Show

As promised on last week’s DLC-Live show (audio click here, for the live feed check it out here) we’ve uploaded to our YouTube channel the full interview Josh and myself did with Criterion Games’ Matt Webster. He was out here promoting the launch of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and was gracious enough to spend a bit of time with us breaking down the ins and outs of the reboot, focusing on the more social aspects of the title, the constant need for one upmanship with your mates and why they chose to take it back to its roots, reverting back to Hot Pursuit. Interview: Raw DLC vs Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

October 11, 2010 in Featured, Games, Interviews

Perhaps one of the greatest things about being the head honcho on a magazine is the access you get to uber-groovy content. You’ll be able to have a read of the Australian 360 Q&A with Raphael van Lierop, the game director of the upcoming Space Marine game next month. But in the meanest of meantimes, we had some leftover questions with answers that we couldn’t bear to see go to waste. I’m sure you won’t mind that we decided to share these remaining items with you all. So make the jump and have a look at what we’ve got for you. Read the rest of this entry →
