Video: Breaking Bad gets the 8-bit treatment

February 2, 2012 in Featured, Games, Video

One of the joys of the internet is stumbling upon a little piece of pop culture gold every now and again. Little did I know that College Humor, a hub of all manner of original things that bring the funny, has been making 8-bit gaming video tributes to some of my favourite TV shows. After ripping The Jersey Shore and Game of Thrones it has fixed its gaze firmly on Breaking Bad. Read the rest of this entry →

Review: Final Fantasy XIII-2

February 1, 2012 in Featured, Games, PS3, Review, Xbox 360

With the epic introduction of Final Fantasy XIII requiring 20-30 hours of gameplay  before hitting a full party paradigm and community outcries at its painfully linear progression developer Square Enix has listened to fans’ concerns and made a multitude of tweaks to its long standing franchise, but have they gone far enough? You’ll have to read on after the jump to find out. Read the rest of this entry →

Review: Resident Evil Revelations – 3DS

January 31, 2012 in 3DS, Featured, Games, Review

Nintendo hasn’t really been known for its adult oriented content with most of its consoles eking out their existence in the family friendly arena. With a pretty weak launch line up the 3DS has been starved for something to sate mature gamers, but now the wait is over. Not only is Resident Evil Revelations a blood soaked romp but it is quite possibly the best iteration of the franchise yet. Read the rest of this entry →

Video: The Witcher 2 360 trailer is shatteringly cool

January 28, 2012 in Featured, Games, Video

You’ve gotta give a helluva lot of respect to CD Projekt, the guys behind The Witcher series. They refused to conform to using DRM, despite how many times The Witcher 2 was pirated, and they insisted on an initial exclusive PC release in a development world that’s consistently flying the multiplatform flag. They’re making an Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2, and excitement ensues after the jump. Read the rest of this entry →

Screens: Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is dino-mite!

January 27, 2012 in Featured, Games, PS3, Screens, Xbox 360

The Transformers titles have always been a little hit and miss. After a mediocre start by High Moon Studios the developer is going back to the drawing board with a significantly darker tone in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, taking place near the end of the Cybertronian Civil War. Here’s a few tasty new screens featuring a host of characters as well as ornery “Don’t call me fossil fuel” Grimlock. Read the rest of this entry →

Screens: First look at Modern Warfare 3′s map pack

January 26, 2012 in Featured, Games, PC/Mac, PS3, Screens, Xbox 360

It’s been tough deciding the online champ of the MW3 vs BF3 slugfest, with both parties making solid arguments. Battlefield 3 may be winning over the PC crowd but has constant VoIP issues on PS3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 hasn’t taken much of a risk, but offers a tried-and-proven formula and is shortly about to fire off the first Call of Duty Elite monthly content drop. Interview: Seth Olshfski on The Darkness II

January 25, 2012 in Featured, Games, Interviews

The Darkness is one of my favourite comics of all time. Not for the story or the violence, but more the way it constantly evolves with new artists and writers. The games are evolving, too. At a recent Insert Coin(s) event (pics here) I had a chance to chat with The Darkness II’s producer, Seth Olshfski. We talked about the game, his career and pet hates. Click over for the full interview. Read the rest of this entry →
