Some retro discoveries made while moving house

sega

I’m currently in the process of moving out of a house I’ve lived in for nearly 25 years. Over time, many varying consoles and games have come through and made their mark.

The other day while cleaning out the corner of a cupboard comparable to Narnia, I came across this wonderful box.

As I started to rifle through it I was overcome with feelings of joy and nostalgia. It made me so ridiculously happy I decided to share what I’d found in (and just next to) the box.

Contents included:

Sega Mega Drive, 2 controllers + the following games

– Bart Simpsons VS The Space Mutants

– Quackshot

– Batman Forever

– Sonic 2 (x2 for some reason)

– Tail Spin

– Man Overboard

– Toy Story

– Daze before Christmas

– Michael Jackson Moonwalker (try to contain your jealousy)

– Taz Mania

– Andre Agassi Tennis

– World of Illusion

– Tiny Toon Adventures

– A retro version of ‘Bejeweled’

Super Nintendo Entertainment System, 2 controllers  + the following games

– Super Mario All-Stars

…sorry, ‘game’ (this system was my Dad’s, and all but 1 of the games are still at his house)

PlayStation 1, 2 controllers + the following games (some of which were for PS2)

– Demo 1

– Crash Bandicoot

– Crash Bandicoot 2

– Crash bandicoot: WARPED

– Crash Team Racing (no, YOU have an unhealthy love of Crash Bandicoot)

– Pandemonium

– Abe’s Oddysee

– Abe’s Exoddus

– Gex 3D

– Driver

– Driver 2

– Spice World (again with the jealousy)

– Croc: Legend of the Gobbos

– Anna Kournikova Smash Court Tennis

– Small Soldiers

Apart from games, other gems included:

– A ‘Vitamin C’ CD

– The first CD I ever bought (Hanson: Mmm-bop…it’s not easy being this gangster)

– My walkman

There are still so many boxes to go through and I can’t wait to see what other titles I discover. After finding this box, I immediately plugged in the PS1 and played the Demo 1 disc (the first PS game I ever played). It still holds up.

Have you ever rediscovered any of your favourite childhood games? I’d love to know what you found.

Things she loves: 90's cartoons, quantum physics, retro games, Jim Carrey, new gadgets, video game arcades, imagining herself doing parkour and then watching Scrubs instead. What she hates: E.T, stick insects, E.T dressed as a stick insect. Weird and pointless achievements: Came 2nd in a nationwide Fruit Ninja competition. Also knows Animaniacs' 'Nations of the World' off by heart.

Holy shit! Talk about nostalia! The Sega Megadrive was the first console of my childhood followed by the PS1, most of the games listed here were a big part of my childhood memories.

Just based on what you have on PS1 – Croc, Gex (!!!) and all of those Crash Bandicoot games, that is quite possibly the greatest combination of PS1 games. Super jealous, Danii…
