Artsy-Fartsy: Francois Baranger and The Deep

deepWhile surfing the Interwebs to find an exciting game to post up for this week’s concept art section, I instead stumbled across a series of painted works for something titled “The Deep”  by artist Francois Baranger. Check out his amazing work after the jump.

As far as I can tell this is only a concept project so don’t get too excited about this. However the images do paint an exciting picture of a kind of underwater Dead Space style title (with the exception of the second image, which seems a tad out of place) which could inspire something later down the line Still the work is very impressive and deserves a showcase.

The depths of an ocean is just as impossible a location to survive than in space and just as mysterious the further you go down. I think it would be a great setting for a game that aims to provide scares, Bioshock comes to mind. If a game came about with a similar mood as Dead Space in a location like those depicted above, I would definitely be interested.
