Artsy-Fartsy: Concept art wrap-up for 2013

fzd_flyer_feb_2013As the year begins to wind down it’s only appropriate we spend some time reflecting on the best content of 2013. It only seems right to gaze back at a selection of my favourite concept art of this year. Check out the sexy HD pieces below and culture up your weekend.

DmC: Devil May Cry

Psychedelic, bursting with colour and really unique, DmC: Devil May Cry was a trip to play through and though the camera work and storyline may not have set the world on fire, the visuals and the environments were mind-blowing. Don’t believe me? Check these out.

BioShock Infinite

Whether or not you think it is game of the year, the team behind the art of BioShock Infinite are true geniuses. Here a few fine examples of their efforts. If you have the coin be sure to get your hands on The Art of BioShock Infinite artbook. It’s chock full of the more amazing stuff.

Remember Me

This is by far my favourite work of the year. There are seemingly endless pieces of art floating around the net for this game and all of it is truly inspired. The future Paris depicted has life teeming from every pixel and these images are only the tip of the iceberg.

Soul Sacrifice

As a fan of the macabre, Soul Sacrifice was a surprisingly violent addition to the PS Vita’s line up. Not only was it an interesting take on the risk/reward dichotomy, but it also had some surreal artwork to go with it too. Not to everyone’s taste but you it’s hard to deny the quality of this crazy concept work.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

I know, I just won’t stop talking about this one, but to be fair the internet has been alive lately with a sea of hi-res images to check out. Here is but a small smorgasbord of their wonderful work to sample. Enjoy!

There you go peeps, some of the stand-out artworks out of 2013.

Do you have any you want to add? What are your thoughts on the state of videogame art right now?
