Suda51 (the dude behind Killer7, Shadows of the DAMNED and Lollipop Chainsaw) has been incredibly tight-lipped about his new project, Killer Is Dead, until now. Continuing in the same universe as Killer7 but not a sequel, say hello to protagonist Mondo Zappa.
Putting aside the brilliant name, perfect along side other Suda51 anti-heroes the likes of Travis Touchdown and Garcia Hotspur, Mondo Zappa finds himself in a futuristic albeit noir-ish world. Using his cybernetic arm and killer katana to perform assassinations or more accurately executions, he rids the world of some of its baddest apples.
The world is absolutely stunning, a complete East meets West vibe, with brutal and elegant combat and at its heart, according to Suda51, a love story. I don’t know about you but my interest is piqued.
Take a look at the trailer below…
… and the dozen or so screenshots and tell us how you think it’s shaping up.
If only the cherry blossoms were falling… THEN this would be the prefect screenshot
I know what you’re thinking. “Did he fire six shots or only five?” Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a cybernetic arm housing the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
Shout outs to Happy Gilmore for this move. So long sucka!
The first blade shaves incredibly close…
Quick, let’s get the hell out of here. If his pose is this bad-arse, imagine his swordplay o_O!
Mondo Zapper’s killin’ fools doin’ flips ‘n shit (we got our apostrophes at a discount warehouse for this)
Rugby League attracted a whole new audience once weapons and cybernetics were allowed
Decapitationnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!
There can be only one!
“Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”
Who the fuck is “Tron”?
Now open wide and say “ahhhhhhhhhh!”
You ever get stabbed through the skull in the pale moonlight?
Look at him, went out crying like a bitch!
