Now that the festive season is at an end and we are all returning to our everyday lives it’s time to get excited about the awesome array of titles arriving in the coming months. Start saving your pennies as this will be one of the best starts to a gaming year ever!

SimCity night life!

10.   SimCity

It’s been a long time between drinks for SimCity. Getting hands-on time with it at the EA showcase last month showed me that Maxis has used its development time well. Fans of the game will love the change in direction and the new engine may pick up some of the more casual observers too.

Err, we come in peace?

9.   Earth Defense Force 2017 (PS Vita)

The PS Vita is built for co-op and this game will be a blast to grab some friends and destroy giant monsters together. Tacky and silly it embraces what it is and offers a ridiculous number of weapons and all the excessive violence you could ask for, for those that want it.

Lego GTA? Yes please!

8.   LEGO City Undercover

My inner child is ecstatic about this one. I have enjoyed all the LEGO games along the way and the idea of cutting loose in a giant LEGO city sounds amazing. All of the block-breaking fun you can muster plus cars, helicopters and more. Hell yes!

It slices, it dices!

It slices, it dices…

7.   DmC – Devil May Cry

Capcom is pulling out all stops with this one. Rebooting the series with new locations, a revamped hero and a really interesting storyline all have me dying to see how this one pans out.

Nothing quite like good co-op

6.   Fuse

Dave and I are co-op fanatics, so naturally this game spoke to us both. After a solid session of four-player action with the games producer (no big deal) we left with nothing but praise for this gung-ho third-person shooter. If you have friends who like to shoot stuff, don’t miss this game.

Coming for ya!

Coming for ya!

5.   Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Whether you are a fan of the series or not this will blow you away. Non-stop, heart pounding sword play with frantic pacing Metal Gear Rising: Revengerance will challenge even those super hardcore gamers.

Game over man, game over!

Game over man, game over!

4.   Aliens: Colonial Marines

All I need to say is that you are playing marines fighting waves and waves of aliens. If you don’t want this game then you are probably at the wrong website.

Origin story done right!

3.   Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider is like the gaming world’s version of Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins. Deep and well written it is set to overshadow everything that comes out around the same time.

2.   Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate

Sure, this title about as underground as games get over here in Australia however, fans (like myself) are keen to get into this RPG epic. Expect me to drop off the grid almost entirely when this comes out. 3DS and Wii U cross play? My life is over!!

Two times the terror!

Two times the terror!

1.  Dead Space 3

Strange to see this one land at the number one spot but my hands-on time reminded me how much I loved the series. The story is coming to an end and as someone who has finished both of the originals, the return to this world felt like slipping into a comfortable suit. Well, a suit infected with scary mind bending drugs, that is. Don’t lose faith, Dead Space 3 will rock your world if you can hang on for the ride!
