As promised on last week’s show, here’s the all-new section we mentioned. Self-explanatory, really. But for those fond of lay terms, here’s how it breaks down. Instead of our usual three-way dynamic, Versus gives us an opportunity to go head to head without a third equalising opinion. First up is Nachos vs Josh as we tackle the topic of turn-based gaming and whether it’s still relevant today.

Oh, I would shoot back and all, but it's not my turn...

Nachos is already wrong by calling Monopoly a board game, it is a game based almost entirely on luck. Turn based games require strategy to be successful. A more accurate board game to turn based video game analogy would be something like Catan, Agricola or Puerto Rico. He also doesn’t understand StarCraft II, it’s not about how many units you have but how you counter the type of unit your enemy has, or when to expand when they’re weak, or what to build based off what you briefly saw of their base. If Nachos had more  patience, he’d actually enjoy turn based games. Turn based games are a niche market? Argumentum ad populum much?

More importantly, Civ V is awesome.

    Valkyria Chronicles?
I’m a 20 year old who still enjoys turn based games. Depending on the game as well i would choose a turn based game over a real time games.
Also final fantasy had tried to evolve the turn based game play with the ATB system, to give it a faster pace and it seems to be working well.

Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy X were great turn based games. Don’t know why that wouldn’t be the case if it was done today.
