PC Specs: Modern Warfare 3 – can you run it?

Some great news from the Activision camp today with the announcement of not only the PC specs for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, but also some solid PC-specific love. We may be guilty of smashing Call of Duty for its apparent inability to stray too far from the proven formula, but this is definitely a step in the right direction. You’ll have to take a parachute-assisted jump to see all the glorious details.

Who needs stealth when you can have dual Deagles?

First and foremost, dedicated servers are in. Not the crappy tied-to-a-certain-server-provider variety, either. Nope. This is the type that lets you create and connect to dedicated servers that are run by dedicated providers or your next door neighbour. Hell yes!

There’s also an included partying system (as in Modern Warfare 2), which is a great way to join a game with your mates, as well as all-important Steam integration. For the rest of the FAQ-presented details, jump over to the Call of Duty forums here.

Last but not least, the PC minimum requirements have also been announced, which are a little more lenient than what Battlefield 3 is asking as its cutoff point.

Minimum system requirements
OS: Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom X38750 processor or better
Memory: 16 GB free hard drive space/2GB RAM
Video Card: Shader 3.0 or better 256 MB NVIDIA®GeForce 8600GT/ATI® Radeon X1950 or better
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0C or later
