News: Killzone 3 Helghast Edition detailed

I’m not gonna lie, Killzone 2 was a remarkably underwhelming experience for me. Something about it just didn’t click. Sure, it’s a gorgeous looking game, but I found the controls a bit clunky and the story just didn’t resonate. I’ve heard for months from peers in the industry that I need to go back and take another look, especially at the multi-player component. I literally had no intention until a few days ago when I saw this stellar bit of kit coming to the “Helghast” limited edition version, and then saw some of the multi-player beta footage online, and it was time to om nom nom some humble pie.

The beta looks absolutely fantastic, with fast paced TEAM ORIENTED action, and you all know how much I likes that. It’s gone from my “pffttt, when I get to it” pile to my “holy shit, I NEEDS it” pile. Being the fan I am of collector’s editions, the newly announced Helghast version is at the top of my list.

Beside the usual behind the scenes disc and artbook that has become stock standard, there’s also a killer Helghast replica helmet on a stand and a barely there cloaked Helghast marksman figurine. I don’t care how much it costs, I’m getting it (unless our local awesome Sony reps want to sling one my way. P… p… p… please?).

This looks the goods and consider me back on the Killzone 3 hype train. Who else is jumping on board?

So with you on the Killzone 2 slur, so stunning graphically, so nothing everthing else. The game play was sluggish, the controls awful. It felt like i was watching the shaky cam bits from Borne Whatever over and over and over again.

The overall story arch is great. That opening trailer was a BARNSTORMER. But the actual game just didn’t have presence.
