News: SEGA seeks to “Vanquish” all opposition in October

Looking for a way to sate your appetite until Gears of War 3 hits next year? Sure you are. Well, SEGA may just have the answer, with their “domo arigato Mr Roboto” slant on third person shooters, also known as Vanquish. Gameplay itself is a mash up of the Gears of War/Uncharted duck and cover mechanics with a healthy dose of Robotech or Gundam, depending on what you flavour is…

Game director, Shinji Mikami’s CV is a veritable smorgasbord of some of DLC’s fondest gaming memoirs, with the likes of Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, God Hand and a slew of Resident Evil titles under his belt, so those nay-sayers may just have to nosh down some humble pie come launch time, on October 21st.

Those of you eager to get some extra lovin’ (and I use that term loosely), can pre-order it now to get the “free” downloadable Tri-Weapon pack, consisting of the Boost Machine Gun, Anti-Armour Pistol and Laser Cannon. Each has its own unique perk, with the Boost Machine Gun a devastating quick firing heavy machine gun, the Anti-Armour Pistol does what you’d expect it to, bring the pain to heavily armoured foes (fancy that!), and the Laser Cannon is a minute laser usually mounted on a spaceship, now in the comfort of your own arsenal, and is quite possibly the most powerful infantry weapon in the game.

We’re always fans of something for nothing here at DLC, and dig a pre-order perk, we just wish that it wasn’t hidden behind some sort of unlockable code, and rather it be offered to everyone from the get go. We’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, if it’s on the disc, it should be available to all from launch. Rants out of the way, I’m really looking forward to this and can’t wait to fight giant metal robots come October.
