News: HBO comes to PS3

Another bomb has been dropped by Sony today, in the video media war that has arisen between PlayStation and Microsoft. News came in from Kotaku about a partnership between Sony and Time Warner (owners of TVs HBO) relating to a joint venture bringing HBO programs to the PlayStation Network.
So far exact details are sketchy and no dates have been given,  but it seems the deal was made for an initial eleven shows, including popular series “Big Love”, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Entourage” . After its proposed release, more shows will arrive on PSN as they hit DVD shelves (about 11 months after first showing). The episodes will be at what Sony is calling a “premium price” at about $2.99US. Reasonable enough considering iTunes has similar pricing on it’s newer titles as well.

This interesting move for Sony begs the question, what else does the company plan to buy up for their video library… Fox? or will this be Microsoft’s next secret weapon?

What do you think? Is it a fair price? Are you interested?
